Very informative,
This is a great book for hiking with your dog on trails in the western and eastern parts of North Carolina. This book is a part of a series by Mountaineer books and gives great details about elevation, water, trail difficulty, etc. I would recommend this book to anyone who walks their dog on trials and and in the outdoors. Plus all dogs love the trails anyway. Great pictures of dogs on the trails too!

Great book, very informative, but….,
I’ve found some really nice places to go thanks to reading this book. It’s very well written and informative. Tells you everything you need to know about hiking with your dog, along with the level of difficulty and time needed to complete your trip. Which leads me to the only reason I gave this 4 out of 5 stars. While I realize hiking in the mountains of Western N.C. aren’t going to be flat, there are lots of other easier hiking trails that I wish were included in this book. It seems that 75% of the trails listed in this book are classified as strenuous hikes. I have a small, but active dog and really would like to see more of easy to moderate trails listed. Other than that, I would highly recommend this book.

Great book and have met the author!,
This is a great book for hiking with dogs. I live in Asheville, NC and have met the author at pet fairs and she is wonderful as well. The descriptions are accurate along with the degree of difficulty. It has plenty of safety tips in the front along with a great table of contents. Western NC is very dog friendly and our mountains are gorgeous. This Author has taken the time and research and written a book that ever dog owner in NC should own. Highly Recommend!
